How the domain age checker works

Free tool to check a domain's registration history, what it shows, and where the data comes from.

Updated

Find a domain's registration details

Open /domain-age-checker and type in any domain—bare, subdomain or full web address. The tool is free and needs no account. It pulls the domain's public record from the registry and shows:

  • How long it has been registered (in years, months and days)
  • Days since the registry made the record
  • Registration date
  • Expiry date
  • Last change date
  • Registrar name
  • DNSSEC sign status
  • Nameservers

Domain info on listings

Each listing shows a Domain info box with the company's own domain details: age, registration and expiry dates, registrar and DNSSEC status. A link takes you to the full record. The box updates about every week.

Where the data comes from

All information comes from the registry's public RDAP record (the modern version of WHOIS). The page tells you when it was checked. Some registries—including certain country codes—do not publish RDAP data, so nothing appears. If a registry doesn't respond, wait a few minutes and try again.

What domain age means here

Age is measured from the current registration. If a domain lapses and gets registered again, the age starts fresh from the new date. Domain age does not affect how listings rank or sort on this site.

Questions people ask

Can I check any domain?
Yes. Type a bare domain, a subdomain or a full web address. The checker looks up the registered domain either way.
Why does a listing show no domain details?
Some registries do not publish public RDAP records. If the registry should answer but doesn't, try again in a few minutes.
Does older domain age mean a better listing?
No. Domain age is information only and plays no part in how we order or display listings.
