Business Listing Finder launch playbook: before, during and after

Below is the Business Listing Finder plan for a product launch: what to prepare, what to share and how to follow up afterwards.

Before launch day

  • Leave no gaps on the page

A full page answers questions before anyone has to ask them. Add your tagline, description and FAQs, and finish your founder profile so visitors can see who built it.

    Your founder profile

  • Sort out the pictures

Pick screenshots that show the main thing your product does. Keep them current and readable, and add a brief demo video if you can.

  • Choose a good moment

Plan your launch for a week with room in it. You will want time to answer questions and thank people.

    See the launch calendar

  • Give people notice

Get your announcement ready early: one short message, adapted for each place you post, plus an email to your list.

The first day

  • Answer each question

Treat each question as a chance to explain the product better. Reply the same day and keep the tone friendly.

    Your listings

  • Write to your users

Write a brief launch email with the link and one line on what is new. Add a launch banner or link to your welcome email too.

  • Share the page

Share the link on the networks you use, such as X, LinkedIn and Bluesky. Pin the post and add the link to your profile bio.

  • Find the right forums

Share in Reddit, Slack and Discord groups where self-promotion is allowed, and read each group's rules first. Use Show HN only for something people can try.

A word on votes: one person, one vote. Votes can never be bought, and asking friends to vote from extra accounts or swapping votes is not allowed.

The rest of the week

  • Display your launch badge

Copy the badge code into your website. Visitors who click it land on your listing page.

  • Repost with an update

One post is easy to miss. Share again on LinkedIn mid-week with an update instead of repeating the first post.

  • Polish the details

Use the feedback from launch day: tighten the description, add missing answers to the FAQs and refresh any old screenshots.

    Edit your listing

  • Choose more directories

Add your product to other launch directories that fit it. Write each listing properly instead of pasting the same text.

The weeks that follow

  • Come back with something new

When you ship something substantial, relaunch. New features and milestones are good reasons to tell people again.

    Relaunch from your account

  • Keep it accurate

Check the listing every few months and update anything that has changed, from pricing to screenshots.

  • Review the results

After launch week, look at the numbers in your own analytics and write down what to repeat and what to drop.

Questions

Can friends and colleagues vote for my product?
You may share it and ask for honest support. One person, one vote, no extra or borrowed accounts, and votes can never be bought.
What timing works for sharing a launch?
Post the moment you go live, reply to people that day, and follow up mid-week with new detail rather than a repeat.
What comes after launch week?
Measure, update and plan the next one: your analytics show what worked, and a big update is the time to relaunch.
How many launch directories should I use?
Several directories can make sense, as long as each one fits your product. Look at price, link type and the kind of listings each one has.
