What is a founder story and where does it show?

The founder story editor, the rules before publishing, and the pages where a story appears.

One product, one story

On Business Listing Finder, a founder story is about one product, in the words of one of its founders. Run more than one product? Each one gets its own story. Every co-founder writes a story of their own.

Your story list

Your stories live at /account/founder/story once you are signed in. Your products appear in a list; each says whether its story is not started, a draft or published, with a button beside it. There is also a 'Founder story for <product>' card on each listing's profile screen in your account.

Writing

The editor is headed 'Founder story: <product>' and has six guided sections: How it started, The problem, What we built, The hard parts, Milestones and What's next. The editor saves your draft automatically. Add photos if you like, up to 4. 'Help me word this' suggests clearer wording for what you wrote, with no new facts.

Publishing

To publish, finish your founder profile at /account/founder first - the screen shows your name and photo. It also needs at least 3 sections and 200 words, no more than 2 links, and no prices or offers.

Readers find it here

A published story has its own address at /launch/<listing>/story/<founder>. That product's listing shows a card linking to it. The founder profile shows a list of your product stories, and /stories gathers all published ones. The story is part of the full profile, so on a free listing the card stays locked until the listing becomes a paid launch.

If you wrote one before

An earlier story that covered several products stays on your founder profile as your general text; new product stories start from it. To change a story, edit it and publish again. Any /founder/<name>/story link you shared before still works; with several products it opens your founder profile.

Questions people ask

My co-founder wrote a story. Can I write one too?
Yes. Each founder of a product can write their own.
Why can't I publish?
Check that your founder profile at /account/founder is complete and the story meets the minimum sections and words.
Do my old story links still work?
Yes. Old /founder/<name>/story links still work and lead to the product story, or to your founder profile if you have several.
